
APPOINTMENT
Ms. Skull has recently been appointed the Director of the Highlands Opera Studio Community School providing vocal instruction to singers in the community as the beginning of a much greater local education initiative to spread the understanding of the many facets involved in performing, producing and presenting opera.
AWARD
Colleen has been awarded the Graduate Paper Award for the 2011 International Symposium for Performance Science to be held at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, August 24-27, 2011. Her Graduate Supervisor for this research paper is Prof. Lee Bartel. Dr. Aaron Williamon, Professor of Performance Science at the Royal College of Music, U.K., made the announcement on February 3. Colleen Skull's paper abstract, examined by the Scientific Committee comprising three external international reviewers, was deemed the most superior Graduate Paper out of the 127 papers submitted for the conference. Ms. Skull will present as a keynote speaker, her paper, "Sustained Excellence: Toward a model of factors sustaining elite performance in opera" at ISPS 2011," and it will be published as a 10-page article in the Proceedings of ISPS 2011.
RECITAL
Winner of the DMA Recital Competition at the University of Toronto. Colleen will be featured in recital March 1st, 2012 at the Thursday at Noon Series, in Walter Hall, Faculty of Music.
